Knottingley 1st XV went down 3-6 in their away league encounter at North Ribblesdale. 80 minutes played in atrocious conditions meant chances were at a premium. Knottingleys halftime lead of 3-0 looked a promising scoreline after playing the first 40 minutes into a strong wind. Some good defensive work, especially in the final 15 minutes of the half denied Rib a score and it looked as though Rib would rue a couple of good penatly opportunities from kickable positions.

However, ten minutes of poor discipline just after half time cost Knottingley in the end, as Rib worked the ball up the field into the wind and were rewarded with 2 quickfire penalty goals to take the lead. The remainder of the half was played mainly in Rib territory. This time it was Rib who put in a good defensive shift. Knottingley's best chance to steal the win came in two last minute chances, first Ribs scrambling defence denied wingman Danny Lund a score in the right corner, before the ball was worked across the the opposite wing where an overlap was created but the final pass went to ground and with it the chance to take the points.

This weekend Knottingley will be looking to get back to winning ways when they take on Ripon at home in the league. Hopefully a number of players will return this week from what is a very long injury list.

Knottingley 2nd XV lost 37-17 in a weather affected "shortened" match against North Rib 2nd XV. This weekend they are back at home in their second merit league match of the season when they take on Barnsley 2nd XV.
